GALESBURG, IL - On a rainy evening at Knox College, everyone headed indoors to watch the Prairie Fire take on Eureka in their home opener, and despite the loss the gym was jumping throughout the contest.

Eureka grabbed an early hold on the first set of the contest and never looked back on their way to a 1-0 lead after the pregame festivities.Â

The Prairie Fire took a trip around campus last week and passed out schedules to the faculty and staff of Knox College. The home opener was also Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Memorial Gymnasium, and prior to the game they were honored on the court.

The second set went back-and-forth up until the match was knotted at 20 apiece, and then Eureka won the next five points to take set two.

Knox started the third set on fire, jumping out to an 11-3 lead, but the Red Devils quickly clawed their way back in and tied the set at 14. Eureka kept going and went on to win the final set 25-22.

Bri Holland led the contest in assists with 12, and Anaya President also led the Prairie Fire with 12 digs.Â

Memorial Gym erupted after every Knox point and the gym was rocking with energy throughout the match.

On Saturday, Knox will head down to Principia College for a doubleheader where they will take on Principia and Lyon starting at 10 a.m.
