Knox College Prairie Fire

Senior Sean Choate placed fifth out of 130 runners at the 2012 Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships on October 27 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

Choate, because he finished in the top 20, is an All-Midwest Conference selection.  His outstanding effort has earned him the latest Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award.

Choate finished the 8K race in a career-best time of 25:47, topping his previous fastest time of 26:01 set at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College on September 21.  His effort at the conference meet is also the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 8K and the third-fastest by a Midwest Conference men’s runner this season.

Along with his #4 ranking on the Knox men’s cross country Top 25 Best Performances list, Choate also owns the eighth, 17th, and 23rd fastest 8K times. 

He and fellow All-Midwest Conference selection, junior Gabe Moreno (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg), who placed 10th individually, helped the Prairie Fire finish sixth in the 2012 Midwest Conference team standings.  Knox placed ahead of Cornell College, Lake Forest College, Beloit College, Illinois College, and Ripon College.

Choate runs next at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.  The meet is November 10 and begins at 11:00 a.m.
