F. DeForest Hitchcock graduated from Knox in 1930, winner of the Hunter Trophy and seven varsity letters in track, basketball and football.  He was captain of the Knox football team that captured the little 19 championship in 1929, when he was the fifth-highest scorer in the nation.  He was also named captain of the United Press and Associated Press Little 19 All-Star Teams.  He still holds the Knox single-season record for rushing touchdowns (13).  Hitchcock earned a masters degree at the University of Wisconsin and was a high school athletic coach and science teacher for 11 years in Rochelle, Illinois.  Following service in the U>S. Army during World War II, he began a long career as a realtor and appraiser with F.L. HIthcock and sons Realtors, of Peoria retiring in 1974.  Born in Trivoli, Illinois he graduated from high school in Elmwood, and currently lives in Dothan, Alabama.
