Seth Kopf was a record-breaking and award-winning defensive back as a member of the Knox football team between 2001 and 2003. He was an All-Midwest Conference selection three times and was named to four All-American teams during his career.
Seth led the team with six interceptions, which ranks eighth all-time at Knox, and eight pass break-ups during the 2001 season. He was selected to the All-Midwest Conference honorable mention team on defense.
Seth again picked off six passes and had 12 pass break-ups to lead the team, along with 26 tackles and two fumble recoveries, during the 2002 season. He helped Knox achieve a 6-4 record and was named to the All-Midwest Conference second team on defense.
Seth was a co-captain during the 2003 season when he set a school record with 11 interceptions, which led NCAA Division III. The team’s defensive Co-Most Valuable Player, he also had 17 pass break-ups and 27 tackles. Seth tied another school record by intercepting three passes in two different games, against Eureka College (9/6/2003) and Grinnell College (10/18/2003). He holds the all-time Knox football record for interceptions in a career with 23. All of his records are in the top five in Midwest Conference history.
Seth was named All-Midwest Conference first team defense in 2003, one of many accolades he received that season for his outstanding play. In addition to the Midwest Conference honor, he was selected to the CoSIDA Division III All-American second team, Hanson’s Football Gazette All-American second team, D3football.com Division III All-American third team, and the Associated Press Little All-American third team.
Seth was also recognized for his hard work in the classroom by being named to the 2003 Academic All-District V Football third team. Another prestigious honor he received was the Harley Knosher Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2004.
Seth is the owner and chief running officer of Kopf Running, which provides endurance training opportunities to people of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. His other professional accomplishments include a career in pharmaceutical sales while he also previously held the position of branch manager at Wells Fargo Financial.
