The Prairie Fire combination of junior Emma Swanson and sophomore Arielle Dorman was lethal again for a women's soccer opponent.
Swanson (West Des Moines, Iowa) and Dorman (Bothell, Washington) scored five of Knox College's goals in a 7-1 non-conference victory Saturday against MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.
The win was Knox's second in a row and the third in the team's last four matches. The Prairie Fire now stands at 4-3 on the season, which already eclipses last year's win total of three.
Knox dominated the action, outshooting the Highlanders (0-4) 26-4 overall and 14-2 on goal. The Prairie Fire did all of its scoring in the first half.
Swanson found the back of the net three times. First-year player Brynn Cole (Corrales, New Mexico) assisted on one of the scores.
Dorman scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season in just four matches played. Junior Mollie Strawn (Charlotte, North Carolina) was credited with an assist on one of Dorman's goals.
Also scoring in the match for Knox were junior Laura Johnson (Sharpsburg, Maryland) - on a penalty kick - and sophomore Nakao Mauch (Fort Wayne, Indiana).
First-year goalie Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota) allowed a goal by MacMurray's Ashley Jenkins in the first half and recorded one save.
Knox takes its 2-0 road record to Springfield, Illinois Wednesday to play Robert Morris University in a non-conference match that starts at 7:00 p.m. The squad returns home Saturday for a Midwest Conference contest at 1:00 p.m. against Grinnell College.
