Scot-Fire-Vikings Classic results
The Prairie Fire had two golfers finish in the top five in the first fall competition of the season, the Scot-Fire-Vikings Classic, Thursday afternoon at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth.
Knox College finished fifth in the team standings with a total score of 339, seven strokes behind fourth place Augustana College. Monmouth College won the team title with a 304.
Two Prairie Fire golfers had standout performances. Sophomore James Fenner (East Peoria, Illinois) shot a 77 to tie for third place overall and senior Bobby Stuebi (Western Springs, Illinois) carded a 78 to tie for fifth place.
The top score was turned in by Monmouth's Sean McNamara, who shot an even par 71.
The other golfers for Knox were senior Jacob Lewis (Bloomington, Illinois), sophomore Ben Schlotter (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania), and senior Ben Wetherbee (Sydney, Australia).
Lewis shot an 89, Schlotter a 95, and Wetherbee a 97.
The Prairie Fire returns to the links this weekend at the University of Dubuque Invitational. The tournament runs Saturday and Sunday at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois.
