University of Dubuque Tournament results
The Prairie Fire's second tournament of the fall season resulted in a 22nd place finish at the University of Dubuque Tournament, played September 24-25 at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena.
Knox played without one of its top golfers -- senior Jamie Jang (San Carlos, California) -- who finished in a fourth place tie with teammate, senior Bobby Stuebi (Western Springs, Illinois), at the 2011 Midwest Conference Men's Golf Championships.
Sophomore James Fenner (East Peoria, Illinois) shot a first round 74 and followed with an 83 in round two to finish at 157 (+13), tying him for 46th place overall.
Stuebi opened with an 81 before carding a 78 in the second round and wound up two strokes behind Fenner at 159 (+15). He tied for 53rd place individually.
The Prairie Fire shot a 341 on the first day and a 360 in the second round to finish with a team score of 701. Knox finished ahead of Fontbonne University (704) and Waldorf College (730).
Central College won the team title with a score of 587. Mount Mercy University placed second, three strokes behind Central. St. Ambrose University (595) placed third, UW-Stout (598) fourth, and St. Thomas University (599) fifth.
The Prairie Fire's other golfers were senior Ben Wetherbee (Sydney, Australia), senior Jacob Lewis (Bloomington, Illinois), and sophomore Ben Schlotter (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania).
Wetherbee finished at 192, Lewis at 193, and Schlotter at 207.
Knox concludes the fall season October 2-3 at the Big Blue Classic, hosted by Millikin University, at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Forsyth, Illinois.
