Jacksonville, IL – The men’s golf team played its last tournament of the fall season, placing ninth at the MacMurray College Invitational.
The Prairie Fire’s score of 346 at the Links Golf Course was seven strokes ahead of Westminster College.
Junior James Fenner (East Peoria, IL, Metamora) led Knox with a 77. He carded a 38 on the front nine and finished the back nine holes with a 39. Fenner tied for 14th place individually.
Also competing for the Prairie Fire were sophomore Ben Schlotter (Chambersburg, PA, Cumberland Valley Christian), sophomore Mackinzie Champman (Sheffield, IL, Annawan), and senior Ryan Stefanczyk (Kohler, WI, Kohler).
Schlotter shot an 85 (44-41), Stefanczyk an 89 (47-42), and Chapman a 95 (47-48).
The team champion was Illinois Central College, which won a playoff against runner-up Webster University after both schools shot 299. Lewis & Clark Community College was third (308), host MacMurray College fourth (311), and Central College finished fifth (316).
Andrew Noble of Webster won the individual title with a 1-under par 71, one stroke ahead of two other golfers.
The Prairie Fire men’s team is off until the traditional spring season.
