Men's Golf 15th at Augie After Good Second Round

Milan, IL – The Prairie Fire had two golfers finish in the top 15 at the Augustana Invitational on April 13 and 14.

Knox improved one spot in the standings between the first and second rounds.  The Fire shot a 331 on the first day.  Senior Bobby Stuebi (Western Springs, IL, Lyons Township)led with a 75 – which tied him for 10th overall – and sophomore James Fenner (East Peoria, IL, Metamora) carded a 79 for 25th place individually.  As a team, the Prairie Fire was tied for 16th place going into the second round.

Knox improved by 18 strokes in the second round and fired a 313 to finish at 644 and in a three-way tie for 15th place.

Fenner came on in the second round, shooting a 72 to wind up with a 151, good for 11th place overall.  Stuebi dropped five spots to 15th place after his 79 in the second round left him one stroke behind Fenner at 152. 

Senior Jamie Jang (San Carlos, CA, Carlmont High School), who turned in an 83 in the first round, improved to a 79 in round two for a two-day score of 163.

Illinois Wesleyan won the team title with a 593.  The University of Dubuque was next with a 604, followed by the Illinois Wesleyan JV (605), Ashord University (610), and St. Ambrose University (613) in the top five.

Next up for Knox is a trip to Jacksonville to take part in the McNaughton Memorial, hosted on Monday by Illinois College.
