Decatur, IL – Three members of the Prairie Fire men’s golf team got in 18 holes on Saturday, a day after inclement weather canceled the opening round of the Millikin Big Blue Fall Invitational.
Knox did not have the required four golfers to field a team. Junior James Fenner (East Peoria, IL, Metamora), sophomore Mackinzie Champman (Sheffield, IL, Annawan), and sophomore Ben Schlotter (Chambersburg, PA, Cumberland Valley Christian) played as individuals in the tournament at Red Tail Run Golf Course.
Fenner led the way for the Prairie Fire with an 82, which placed him in a tie for 43rd place. Carthage College placed first out of 15 teams. The individual champion was Donnie Langland of Carthage, who fired a 70.
Chapman finished with a 93 and Schlotter shot a 97 for Knox.
Two lightening delays and a storm that followed ultimately led to the cancellation of Friday’s first round at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.
The Prairie Fire’s final tournament of the fall season is the MacMurray College Invitational on September 30 in Jacksonville.
