Jere Highlights for Track & Field at MWC Championships

Saturday, May 10 Recap - Les Duke Track at Grinnell College

(Canton, IL, Canton) matched his career-best javelin throw of 155' 4" and placed seventh overall.  The distance ranks ninth on the Knox all-time top 10 individual list.

The Knox men's 4x400 meter relay team of Jere, first-year Josh Tvrdy (Tucson, AZ, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy), first-year Jeremy Rainey-Brown (Chicago, IL, Walter Payton College Prep) and sophomore Ian Horne (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva) placed seventh in a time of 3:30.21. 

The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Rainey-Brown, Horn, sophomore Peter Liao (Hsinchu, Taiwan, Hsinchu American School), and junior Jake Swider-Rogers (Chicago, IL, St. Ignatius) scored by finishing eighth in 45.55 seconds.

Rainey-Brown added an eighth place finish for the Prairie Fire in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.82.

Trvdy, running long-distance, improved his position on the all-time top 10 individual list in the 3000 meter steeplechase.  He was clocked in 10:22.82 for #6 on the list and topping his previous personal-best by more than 12 seconds.

The Knox men's team scored 14 points and placed 10th in the MWC.  The women's squad did not score at the meet.

Friday, May 10 Recap - Les Duke Track at Grinnell College

Results

The Prairie Fire have some work to do at the MWC Championships at Les Duke Track on the Grinnell College campus.

The Knox men's team tallied three points while the women's squad did not score through 20 events held during the first day of competition.

Junior Ezekiel Jere (Tema, Ghana, SOS- Hermann Gmeiner International) placed sixth in the 1500 meters in 4:06.06.  His personal-best time ranks #7 on the Knox all-time top 10 performance list and #5 on the all-time top 10 individual list.

The second day of events gets underway at 10:30 a.m. with the women's hammer throw.
