Box Score GALESBURG, Illinois – Monmouth College used a big second half to pull away and defeat the Prairie Fire 4-0 in a Midwest Conference match on Tuesday at Jorge Prats Field.
It was anyone's game after the teams played to a scoreless draw through the first 45:00.
The Fighting Scots (2-6, 1-1 MWC) broke the stalemate with a goal 53 seconds into the second stanza to take a 1-0 lead. Monmouth came back with another score in the 49th minute for a 2-0 advantage.
Knox (2-6, 0-2 MWC), meanwhile, had trouble mounting an offensive attack against Monmouth.
The Scots increased their lead to 3-0 on a goal off a corner kick at the 71:58 mark, and then closed out the scoring with a direct kick that found the back of the net 77:44 into the contest.

Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) had eight saves for Knox.
The Prairie Fire welcome Rockford University to Prats Field for a non-conference contest on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Prairie Fire will try for a second straight victory against the Regents (1-4-1) after
winning last year's match 2-1 in Rockford.
