Track and Field Competes at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire track and field teams competed at Illinois College on Saturday.

Tyrell Pierce picked up first place finishes in the men's 200m (22:53) and 400m (49:27). His 400m performance is a new Knox record and is the sixth best mark in the nation currently. His 200m time is the number 10 time at Knox all-time and the 19th best mark in the country this year so far as well.

Derrick Jackson placed second in the men's 55m (6.40).

Jonathan Bailey earned a fourth place finish in the men's 55m with a time of 6.49, now the number two time at Knox. His 200m time of 23.43 also places him at 10th all-time at Knox.

Lance Miller Yates finished second in the men's mile with a time of 4:37.13. It is the fifth best time for Knox all-time.

Darnell Centeno placed fifth in the men's 55m hurdles (10.63). He also placed third in the men's triple jump (11.96m).

Kendall Ballman earned third place in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.46m.

AJ Vazquez placed second in the men's triple jump (12.29m).

Zaria Criswell finished fourth in the women's 55m with a school record time of 7.59.

Autumn Crow picked up a first place finish in the women's 3000m (11:50.82).

Peyton Balfour (1.46m) and Megan Shafar (1.46m) now share the seventh best women's high jump mark at Knox.

Balfour placed first in the women's long jump (5.00m), also the seventh best mark in Knox history.

"We are continuing to move in the right direction," said head coach Evander Wells. "We competed well and saw a lot of great performances, but there is still room to improve."

The Prairie Fire return to action on January 28 as they travel to St. Ambrose.
