GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team split a doubleheader with Eureka on Wednesday afternoon.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game one, but Knox scratched across a run in the third and then scored six in the fifth. Evan Laws hit a go-ahead grand slam to give the Prairie Fire a 7-4 lead. Knox held on for an 11-5 victory.
In game two, the game was close through four innings but Eureka tallied nine runs in the fifth to run away with it.
Laws led the Prairie Fire with three hits on the day, including two home-runs and eight runs batted in. Nicholas Nitti also added three hits and Parker Engel and Luke Mathieu tallied two hits apiece.
Sammy Garcia picked up his first collegiate win in game one with a scoreless fifth inning.
Knox returns to action on May 2 as they host Monmouth for the third game of a three game set.
