KANSASVILLE, Wis. — With the Midwest Region Classic in full swing, the rains came and washed out the second round, leaving yesterday's first-round totals as the final scoring for the tournament. This development was unfortunate for the Knox men's golf team as it was climbing the leaderboard after completing the first round in 24th place in the 45-team field.
Seniors Gabriel Newman and Pranav Nandakumar were playing their round at even par after leading the Prairie Fire yesterday at 2- and 3-over par, respectively. Newman had three birdies in the 10 holes he completed, while Nandakumar, who finished 11 holes, countered a pair of bogeys with a hole-in-one on the 182-yard, par-3 15th.
At the time the second round was canceled, Knox had gone from 24th place entering the day to 18th.Â
- Nebraska Wesleyan took home the team title with a first-round total of 6-under par.
- Nebraska Wesleyan's Harrison Weddell and Wisconsin Lutheran's Riley Tanzi tied for medliast honors with a 3-under 69 yesterday.
Knox will next play at the Stateline Shootout hosted by Mount St. Joseph at the Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Club in Harrison, Ohio, on Sept. 27-28.Â
