The Prairie Fire played its most important match of the season Saturday at Lake Forest College, with a spot in the Midwest Conference Team Tournament in Rockford on the line. Unfortunately, Knox couldn't muster enough points as the Foresters claimed a 6-3 MWC South Division win.

Knox (2-7, 1-2 MWC South) posted victories in three of the six singles matches. Lake Forest (5-9, 2-1 MWC South) punched its ticket to the team tournament by winning all three doubles matches.
Lake Forest joins undefeated Grinnell College as the South Division representaties at the team tournament. Lawrence University and St. Norbert College qualified from the North Division.
The highlight for the Prairie Fire again was sophomore Charlotte Garvin (Omaha, Nebraska). She won her #3 singles match against LFC's Nonie Carson 6-3, 6-2 for her seventh straight victory. Garvin hasn't lost since September 10 against Laura Krull of MWC favorite Grinnell College and is 7-1 in #3 singles this season.
Also winning their singles matches for Knox were junior Emily Tyl (Downers Grove, Illinois) against Kiersten Kolstad 6-1, 6-0 and junior Sarah Bolitho (St. Charles, Illinois) against Kaitlyn Martin 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
Lake Forest won the #1 through #3 doubles matches 9-7, 8-6, 8-5.
The Prairie Fire heads to Madison, Wisconsin for the Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Doubles Championships on October 15, followed by the singles championships on October 16.
