Box Score
Rock Island, IL – The Prairie Fire lost to Augustana College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday.
The Vikings remain unbeaten after the 9-0 triumph against Knox. Augustana also owns an 8-1 win against MWC South power Grinnell College earlier this month.
Sophomore
Margaret St. Clair (Mount Vernon, IA, Mount Vernon), who fell in her #6 singles match against Augie, said nobody threw in the towel.
"Even though we were outmatched, I think that we fought for every single point and really gave it our all. Going up against challenging opponents sets us up for a lot of improvement, and we are only going to improve."
The Prairie Fire (2-6) will get a week before heading back out on the court against another team.
Knox coach
Miriam Skrade was pleased with her team's effort.
"It makes me feel proud to see the team play hard and give it their all even in the sixth straight match of tough competition.
By and large, they are remaining positive and seeing how to measure their improvement even when scores aren't in our favor."
Knox goes for a second win without a loss in a Midwest Conference South Division match at Illinois College on September 24 at 3:00 p.m.
