GRINNELL, Iowa—The Prairie Fire started off the conference season on Saturday with losses to two of the top three finishers in last year's standings. Knox lost 9-0 to Grinnell College and 9-0 to Cornell.
 
Cornell is coming off a 9-1 record in conference in 2014, while Grinnell finished right behind them at 8-2.
 
Against this tough competition, Knox falls to 0-6 on the season and is 0-2 in conference play.

The Prairie Fire will next face conference opponent Monmouth on Wednesday at home. Knox defeated the Scots last fall 5-4 behind the performances of sophomores Taytem Chapman (Lincoln, NE, Lincoln East) and Miranda Corbett (Algonquin, IL, Jacobs) . Chapman won her #1 singles match 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 and Corbett won her #3 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Chapman (8-5) and Corbett (8-6) both led their doubles groups to victory as well.
