GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire defeated Illinois College 6-3 on Tuesday to open up Midwest Conference play.
 
Knox (2-3, 1-0 MWC) won their second straight match and head coach Lawrence Eyre is seeing good things. "Our improvement continues," said Eyre. "I see more patience during points, more variety in shot making, and more courage on pivotal points."
 
Savannah Sailors, Annaliese McDermott, Clare Colt, and Sierra Henry all earned singles wins for the Prairie Fire. Smith/McDermott and Colt/Emily Miller won on the doubles side.
 
Knox remains home to take on conference foes Lawrence, Ripon, and St. Norbert this weekend.
