GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's tennis team earned a split in a pair of matches on Saturday.

Knox (7-11) lit the courts on Fire in a 6-3 defeat of North Park in the morning and fell to Wartburg 2-7 in the afternoon.

In the victory over North Park , Knox picked up singles wins by Bhumika Gupta, Miranda Corbett, Maddie Schacht, and Melissa Smith. Smith garnered the final point on a blazing serve down the center line that smoked her opponent. Anna McDermott teamed up with Schacht to win at #2 doubles and the tandem of Lauren Sparks and Sierra Henry won their #3 doubles match.

McDermott and Smith each picked up singles victories over Wartburg in the late match. Sparks and Henry were edged 9-7 in their #3 doubles match.
