GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's tennis team dropped a conference match to Monmouth on Tuesday afternoon.
After a storm forced the teams inside to the Lakeside Recreation Facility, Knox (1-1) played a hard fought match. However, despite some very close scores the Prairie Fire came out on the losing end, 1-8.
Bhumika Gupta won her singles match 6-4, 6-0 to come away with the lone victory for Knox. Himani Patel played a very close match at #2 singles, falling 5-7, 6-7 (5-7). Mallory Boychuk fell 2-6, 3-6 in the #4 slot and Jamahra Richardson fell 3-6, 4-6 in the fifth slot.
Gupta teamed up with Kathryn Allee at #1 doubles for another close match, falling by a score of 8-9 (4-7).
The Prairie Fire return to action on October 6 when they travel to Grinnell.
