LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - The Prairie Fire men's golf team competed in the first two rounds of the SLIAC Tournament on Monday.
Knox trailed No. 32 Webster by just one stroke after the first round, but Illinois College jumped ahead of the Prairie Fire after two rounds. Knox shot 306-313 to wind up in third place with one round to play.
Brendan Wise and Patrick Mattar were both consistent on day one, carding 77's in each of the first two rounds. They are currently in a tie for ninth overall.
"Through the first 18 holes we were right where we wanted to be," said head coach KC Harding. "However, the beginning of the second 18 was rough on a few and the ones who started solid had some trouble finishing. We will go out and give it everything we got and see where the chips fall."
The final round of the SLIAC Tournament will be played on April 26.
