SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's golf team competed at the Blueboys Invite hosted by Illinois College at The Rail Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.
Knox Purple finished fifth out of 15 teams. The Knox Gold team also placed 12th.
Brendan Wise paced the Prairie Fire with a 2-under 142 over the two day event. He was particularly good in round one, shooting a 3-under 69.
"It was great to see Brendan shoot his career low of 3 under par 69 on his last Invitational as a Prairie Fire," said head coach KC Harding. "I couldn't be happier for Brendan. I know he was hoping to put another under par round together today but he played a very solid score and earned a top 5 in a talent rich field of golfers."
Jack Wilkie shot a 150 to lead the Gold team.
"Jack played a solid first round for the Knox Gold team with a score of one over par 73," added Harding. "We started off round two the best we have ever done this year with the team being -5 through the first three holes of the day. We obviously hit a difficult stretch in the middle but I am very proud of the way we finished today's round. With the 4 scores we used for today's team score they played the last 5 holes at 1-over par. If we didn't finish strong it could have gotten ugly. We have a lot of positives to take from the last two days and we found some things that need to be improved. It's that time of year where it's win or go home and we aren't ready to go home quite yet."
Knox returns to action on April 23 as they travel to the SLIACÂ Tournament.
