GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a conference doubleheader to Illinois College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blueboys jumped out to a 9-1 lead in game one, but Knox scored five in the fourth inning to bring the score within three. Illinois College scored eight runs over the next two innings to earn the early victory.
The Prairie Fire took an early 2-1 lead in game two, but the Blueboys scored five runs in the second inning to take control. They held on for the win.
Aidan McMurtrie led Knox with three hits on the day. Jason Clark, Etienne Thomas, Henry Scholes, Evan Laws, Nicholas Nitti, and Andrew Garrett each tallied two hits. Laws hit his fourth home-run in the last five games. Henry Scholes hit a home-run and drove in two runs on the day. Clark and Laws also drove in two apiece.
"Our offense continues to get better as they year goes on," said associate head coach James Clark. "We saw some bright things at times from the pitching staff, but we need to limit free bases."
The Prairie Fire return to action on April 20 as they host the University of Chicago.
