Galesburg, IL - A Prairie Fire women’s swimming relay team is being recognized by the athletic department for a strong performance last weekend.
Seniors
Tory Kassabaum (Webster Groves, MO, Webster Groves),
Bess Cooley (Shorewood, WI, Shorewood), and
Rachel Clark (Newton, IA, Newton), along with first-year swimmer
Susannah Lodge-Rigal (Bloomington, IL, Bloomington), teamed up to place 3rd out of 21 entries in the 800 yard freestyle relay on December 3 at the
Pioneer Classic in Grinnell, Iowa.
The relay team, which earned 40 points in the event, is the recipient of the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award.
Kassabaum, Cooley, Clark, and Lodge-Rigal also combined to score points in 16 individual events – including one 1st, one 2nd, and three 3rd place finishes.
The Prairie Fire women’s team placed 8th in the team standings at the Pioneer Classic and finished ahead of Midwest Conference schools Carroll University, Beloit College, Illinois College, and Ripon College.
The Prairie Fire swimmers travel to Jacksonville Illinois for a dual against Illinois College on Thursday, December 9 to close out 2011.
